Have I ever mentioned my love for my slow cooker before? No? Seriously, I love the thing. I use it enough that I should actually probably own more than one of them, but I don’t. I just have one. It makes cooking dinner super easy when we have a busy day. Because of that, it eliminates the temptation to eat out, or eat junk food. If I know that when I finish my errands for the day, that I can come home to a healthy and delicious meal that’s already cooked for me, I have absolutely no excuse to grab food from a window.
Some poeple don’t love their crock pots like I do, but I’m guessing that they probably just don’t have a lot of recipes for them. Aside from making a roast, a lot of people just don’t know what to do with their crock pots. That is a shame. You can use it for so many things, and I find myself constantly adapting other recipes to make them crock pot friendly. Luckily, this recipe was designed with the crock pot in mind. It comes from Against All Grain.
One of the things that I like the most about Danielle Walker of Against All Grain’s recipes is that she lives in the real world. She has a husband and a young child, so when she writes her recipes, they don’t usually involve any crazy techniques and hours of preparation. This recipe, for Slow Cooker Sesame Orange Chicken, from her book Against All Grain is super simple to make. It doesn’t involve a ton of ingredients and it cooks in the slow cooker. I paired it with a side of steamed veggies, but I bet it would be delicious over some cauliflower rice.
